The Documentary

On behalf of the Digital Media Program at Buena Vista University, BVTV will spend the next few years following the renovation process of the Cobblestone Ballroom! While a focus will be placed on the renovation process itself, the historical significance of the building will play a key part in the story. By diving into interviews with those who worked or performed at Cobblestone and gathering archival footage/artifacts, the past will be used to signify the future.

A Student's Pespective

A Student's Perspective

Under the leadership of professor Jerry Johnson and Dr. Andrea Frantz, students are able to gain invaluable hands-on experiences in producing a documentary. From contacting, organizing, and filming interviews to scanning artifacts and reading decade-old articles, students can undertake as much responsibility as they desire! Student Joshua Tigges exclaims, "There's no doubt this opportunity is going to propel me into my future career. I can check out a camera and go gather B-Roll of the renovation process when it fits into my schedule!" While renovations could take upwards of three years, new students have the opportunity to get involved! As upperclassmen prepare to enter their career, any underclassmen interested in the project are welcomed on board to continue the process. The collaboration offered by this design allows students to strengthen weaknesses by working with those who excel in certain areas, or hone abilities in certain aspects. Whether it's research, conducting interviews, filming, or scriptwriting there's something for everyone to do!
